Growing a Healthy Community, One Smile at a Time
Regular trips to the dentist are important—particularly for growing kids. At Dr. Ellen Im Pediatric Dentistry, we encourage you to visit every six months. We provide the very best in preventative dentistry to assess and treat our young patients, with personalized care that’s just right.
A proactive approach to oral health, especially as young mouths are still taking shape, helps Dr. Ellen provide an early diagnosis if issues arise, and minimizes the need for more aggressive treatments later on.
Dr. Ellen and our staff will make your child feel at ease, providing the most pleasant experience possible. Call us at (858) 679-6660 to schedule your child’s next visit.
Dr. Ellen gives all of her patients a warm, friendly welcome and loves answering questions from parents and children alike. When everyone knows what to expect, checkups and cleanings are a breeze! Kids feel acknowledged, and they can relax for extra gentle cleanings and quality care.
During your child’s exam, we’ll inspect the health and development of their jaw, teeth and gums, looking for early signs of common oral health concerns. Our staff will perform a thorough, gentle cleaning of the teeth. If we see any minor issues, Dr. Ellen will advise on improvements to hygiene habits and/or technique. She’ll also suggest minor dental work (like sealants to protect cavity-prone spots), as needed.

Why We Suggest Regular Visits with Dr. Ellen
What to Expect
at Your Child’s Checkup
At Dr. Ellen Im Pediatric Dentistry, we have more than a few moms that work in our office—so if you’ve got a nervous patient, we’ve got plenty of patience and compassion to help them… not to mention headphones, TVs, iPads and kids’ books. We’ll also offer a warm blanket to snuggle up in, and sunglasses if the examination light seems a little too bright. Children are special, and that’s how we treat them!
Sealants and Fillings
Cavities are a common dental concern, so Dr. Ellen inspects teeth thoroughly to detect the first sign of tooth decay. The good news? Early detection of weak spots means less invasive treatment—Dr. Ellen offers sealants that provide a barrier between vulnerable areas of the tooth, which guard against bacteria that will further erode the area. If a cavity has already formed, she’ll fill it with composite resin, which blends in naturally with the natural color of your child’s teeth and prevents further decay.
Dr. Ellen offers topical fluoride treatment which helps strengthen your child’s tooth enamel. Strong enamel shields teeth against cavity-causing bacterias in the mouth to help prevent tooth decay. Kids won’t mind—we have great flavors!
