Give Your Child the Confidence of a Bright, White Smile

Have you or your child noticed that their newly erupted permanent teeth seem, well, a little yellow—especially in comparison to their bright-white baby teeth? This is totally normal and shouldn’t be cause for concern. Kids naturally have hollower teeth, which causes a yellowish appearance. As they grow, the tooth will strengthen and the enamel naturally whitens.

Other times, food and drink stains are the cause for discoloration, but there’s an easy fix. Dr. Ellen offers safe, effective whitening treatments that will restore teeth to their natural color.

Is It Safe to Whiten
My Child’s Teeth?

Remarkably Effective, Gentle Treatment You Can Trust

To reduce the yellow appearance of new permanent teeth, sometimes parents seek out whitening treatments for younger children. The Academy of General Dentistry does not recommend treating children under the age of 14, or until their tooth pulp has fully formed. Depending on the development of your child’s teeth, they may be better off waiting until at least 17 years of age. We suggest meeting with Dr. Ellen to determine if your teenager is ready for whitening treatment at our Poway office.

For kids who have more developed teeth, whitening is totally safe. Our take-home trays include potassium nitrate and fluoride (PF) gel. If used as properly, PF gel is safe and effective. Dr. Ellen will ensure that you understand the instructions for proper use before you leave our office. Rest assured that our at-home whitening kits are a reliable way to get a natural-looking, whiter smile—that won’t harm enamel.
